If thou have much give abundantly: if thou have a little,
take care even so to bestow willingly a little.
Tobit 4:9
Would you like to help Saint Joseph? There is a lady in Cameroon who has been praying to Saint Joseph for the last eight years. It is difficult for Saint Joseph to answer her prayer in Africa and so he needs our help to enable him to answer Susan's prayer.
Susan teaches the Catholic faith to adults and children in Bamenda in Cameroon, West Africa.
For the last eight years Susan has been praying to Saint Joseph for a house to live in. At present Susan teaches catechism in twelve different parishes and stays overnight in the homes of parishioners. She has no home of her own. Susan is a single lady who has promised her life to God. She earns €39 per month. Her extended family live from hand to mouth and so she has no way of saving money.
Susan will soon retire and will have nowhere to live. She will not have a roof over her head. So Susan cries when she prays to Saint Joseph because she is so afraid of the future.
Cameroon is the poorest country in Africa and receives the least aid from the West. The cost of living is very high and they have had food riots. Jesus tells us that when we feed the hungry or house the poor we are actually feeding and housing Him. Jesus also warns us that if we don't do these things as Christians, then we shall not enter heaven. Sometimes it is difficult to give to the poor. We often cannot find them, or don't have time to do so. This is our chance to be true Christians. It is our chance to help a great Saint in heaven. It is also a chance to store up treasure for ourselves in heaven.
For alms delivereth from death, and the same is that which purgeth away sins, and maketh to find mercy and life everlasting.
Tobias (Tobit) 12:9
Give alms out of thy substance, and turn not away thy face from any poor person: for so it shall come to pass that the face of the Lord shall not be turned from thee.
Tobias (Tobit) 4:7
